REFLECTION
The use of edges to define space is completely different between the Schroder House and the Mobius House. Within the Schroder House, a system was developed in order to transform the space from individual divided rooms into one open communal space. Using the sliding panels to alter the space to their specific needs. On the other hand, Mobius house focuses on the workflow on the family as well as the characteristics if the Mobius strip. Space is designed by its purpose and the direction of the workflow is defined by the placement of the glass and concrete walls where the intersections are collective communicable areas that don’t disrupt the workflow of the home itself. From both of these examples, we see two different approaches to the definition of an edge to create space. One where it can change back and forth from open to close space, whilst the other uses materials such as glass and concrete to define the movement of the workflow both visually and physically.
